Coolsculptingâ®The IPL treatment destroys the bacteria in the skin that causes acne and targets overactive sebaceous glands, greatly reducing the number and severity of active lesions, and lessening the inflammation and occurrence of break-outs. IPL also stimulates the production of new collagen to improve skin texture, and can reduce the appearance of red or brown areas of skin that are often associated with acne breakouts.
Clients describe the sensation as a snap of a rubber band against their skin. Some IPL systems handpiece has a built-in surface cooler which cools the treated area, increasing patient comfort and minimizing any adverse reactions. Topical anesthesia is rarely needed, but is available when IPL treatments are performed on more sensitive areas.
A series of 3 to 6 treatments delivered at 2-4 week intervals are usually necessary to achieve prolonged and marked reduction in acne lesions.
Discontinue sun tanning and the use of tanning beds and self-tanning creams 4 weeks before your IPL acne treatment. This will reduce the chance of skin color changes, and development of new lesions. Discontinue use of exfoliating creams such as Retin-A and other skin exfoliating products 2 weeks prior to and during the entire IPL acne facial treatment course.
If you have a history of herpes outbreaks in the area of treatment you should consult the Primary care provider for medical evaluation and possible prophylaxis prior to your IPL acne treatment.
Immediately after the treatment, you will experience some minor redness which typically lasts only a few hours. You may experience an initial flare-up after your first treatment. You can expect to immediately return to normal activities but always use an SPF-30 or higher sunscreen on all exposed treatment areas and re-apply every 2 hours throughout the day.

You will likely experience a warming of your skin as the treatment progresses. Since the microneedles open up the pores to allow better absorption, we can apply a hyaluronic acid serum to the treated area to achieve optimal results.
